Capella Space has launched their new Open Data Program, an initiative that provides Capella’s high resolution, ultra-low latency data directly to researchers, nonprofits, developers and disaster response organizations to foster innovation and discover new untapped applications of SAR.
When Capella was founded five years ago, this type of data was largely inaccessible and almost exclusively available to specialized government and research institutions. Now, with a growing constellation on-orbit, Capella is democratizing SAR, making the highest resolution imagery publicly available for the first time.
The program’s dataset will consist of 60 scenes on release, covering all seven continents and featuring three SAR imagery products (Spot/Site/Strip). The data represents a wide range of use cases, from agriculture and aquiculture, energy and natural resources, infrastructure, maritime, environmental, as well as humanitarian and natural disaster use cases. All 60 of the images may be viewed at this direct link…
