CHANDLER, Ariz. — Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NASDAQ: CMTL) announced Tuesday it has received a follow-on contract valued in excess of $5 million to support a major U.S. civil space exploration program. The award, issued by an undisclosed aerospace and defense prime contractor, tasks Comtech with supplying advanced electronic components and engineering services for next-generation human spaceflight missions targeting the lunar surface.
Scope of Work: High-Reliability Microelectronics Under the terms of the agreement, Comtech will provide component engineering and parts procurement services. The company’s space components division, which has operated since 1976, specializes in high-reliability (Hi-Rel) supply chain management for space-bound systems. The deliverables will support technologies required for exploring new regions of the Moon, aligning with the broader objectives of the U.S. civil space agenda.
This contract extends Comtech’s role in the program, leveraging its established infrastructure for managing radiation-hardened and mission-critical microelectronics. The company currently supports supply chain requirements for NASA and the Department of Defense across various orbital regimes.
Executive Perspective “We are honored to support this critical civil space program, and this award demonstrates the trust of our partners as we continue to deliver mission-critical technologies and services for some of the most high-profile space missions in the world,” said Daniel Gizinski, President of Comtech’s Satellite & Space Communications Segment.
Market Outlook The award arrives as the commercial and civil space sectors expand, with global industry forecasts projecting a $1.8 trillion market by 2035. Comtech indicated it anticipates sustained demand for its component engineering services as prime contractors ramp up production for long-term lunar and deep space architectures.
