Warpspace Inc. has initiated a business partnership with GMO Cybersecurity by Ierae, Inc., a member of the GMO Internet Group that provides cyber attack countermeasure services.

Through this business partnership, the company will combine the cybersecurity expertise cultivated by GMO Cybersecurity by Ierae with Warpspace’s cutting-edge space digital twin technology to proceed with joint research toward the realization of a secure development and operation platform for space satellite systems.
The business partnership between GMO Cybersecurity by Ierae and Warpspace aims to establish cybersecurity in the new frontier of space and, through that, to enable the sustainable use of space. By combining the expertise and technology that GMO Cybersecurity by Ierae has cultivated at the forefront of cybersecurity with Warpspace’s space digital twin technology, we are committed to creating new value in space systems.
The core of this partnership is the joint development of an innovative development and operation platform that comprehensively supports the entire lifecycle of space systems. This platform is based on digital twin technology that precisely reproduces complex space systems, including satellite constellations, in a virtual environment. Integrating cybersecurity elements into this platform provides a wide range of value to organizations engaged in space development and utilization.
This platform is expected to play an important role in training engineers involved in space systems and providing advanced incident response training. It is essential to create a practical training environment that allows for repeated trial and error on a faithful virtual reality (digital twin) while remaining on the ground, overcoming physical constraints and cost issues.
By using a high-precision space digital twin environment, it is possible to realistically reproduce various cyberattack scenarios and system failures that could occur in actual space and to experience them safely and effectively while remaining on the ground. This enables space system developers and operators to practically develop their ability to respond to complex incidents without affecting actual systems. It also enables the repeated implementation of advanced security training that was previously difficult to conduct, such as attack method analysis, defense measure testing, and recovery procedure verification.
GMO Cybersecurity by Ierae has been providing services, such as threat analysis, vulnerability diagnosis, penetration testing, and incident response related to cybersecurity in important infrastructure and advanced technology fields in Japan and overseas for many years. They will bring the concept of “secure by design,” which incorporates security from the early stages of system development to the space sector. Not only will the platform itself be developed with robust security, but we also plan to provide functions and environments that enable platform users to effectively conduct threat analysis and risk assessment for their own space systems.
Warpspace’s knowledge and technical capabilities in building digital twins of space will be effectively utilized in the development of this platform. The firm will promote development toward the realization of this platform by applying advanced technologies that reproduce not only physical aspects such as the behavior of satellites and their onboard equipment and communication status but also inter-system coordination and data flow in a virtual space.
By combining the strengths of both companies in the development of this platform, we aim to promote the concept of “secure by design,” which incorporates security from the planning and design stages of space systems, throughout the space industry.
The company also aims to improve security levels in all phases of the space business, from continuous threat monitoring and incident response capabilities during the operational phase to future threat prediction.
