The European Union has set June 10th as the deadline date for Europe’s individual countries to approve—or to open a full investigation into the planned merger between satellite operators SES and Intelsat.

Both companies have always said approvals were likely in the second-half of this calendar year.
If a full competition investigation is needed, then it is likely to be nearer the end of the year before conditions can be agreed upon and the merger proceed.
SES CEO Adel Al-Saleh (pictured to the right) told analysts during the April 30th results call that SES anticipates closing the transaction early in a previously suggested second half of 2025.
The UK’s Competition & Markets Authority opened its investigation last month and set its date as June 12th for its deadline for comments.
The end results will be a global behemoth of a satellite operator with more than 100 geostationary satellites plus a fleet of Mid-Earth orbiting craft.
