May 6, 2025

Es’hail-2

Es’hailSat, the Qatar Satellite Company, has expanded its channel offerings by incorporating Syria’s Al-Ikhbariya TV channel into its video distribution lineup at the 26° East orbital position, facilitated by the Es’hail-2 satellite. The Es’hailSat satellite footprint strategically encompasses the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, optimizing signal coverage and enabling significant viewership potential for the public broadcaster’s channel from General Organization for Radio and Television throughout this expansive area. The scope of the agreement includes satellite contribution and occasional use services on Es’hail-1, distribution on Es’hail-2 and Teleport services from Es’hailSat’s Tier-4 certified Teleport facility in Doha. This enhancement underscores Es’hailSat’s commitment to delivering a diverse range of content to satisfy regional demand.

The General Organization for Radio and Television (ORTAS) is Syria’s state and public broadcaster, reporting to the Ministry of Information. Founded in 1960, ORTAS operates from Damascus and produces programs in Arabic, English, and French. It manages several television channels, including Al-Ikhbariya Syria, which was launched on December 15, 2010. Al-Ikhbariya Syria focuses on news and current affairs, providing coverage of national and international events. ORTAS also runs multiple radio stations, such as Radio Damascus and Sawt Al-Shabab. The organization is fully funded by the government and follows an editorial policy aligned with government directives.

Es’hailSat provides satellite, broadcast, teleport and managed services from Doha, Qatar and brings to this relationship more than 15 years of being in the business of catering to broadcasters, telecommunication companies, enterprises, mobility applications and governments across the Middle East and North Africa. Es’hailSat’s two satellites at 25.5/26 East together with our 50,000 sqm Tier-4 certified teleport facility provides reliable and robust connectivity services.

“Es’hailSat is delighted to welcome Syria’s Al-Ikhbariya TV channel and bring on board Syria’s public broadcaster to our satellite hotspot.” said Mr. Ali Ahmed Al-Kuwari, President and CEO, Es’hailSat. “We believe that the reliability and expertise in providing satellite services by Es’hailSat aligns perfectly with ORTAS vision to serve as the primary state and public broadcaster, providing comprehensive and reliable information to the Syrian public.”
