Sofia Digital, Intelsat launch VideoNow Live TV and EPG

April 16, 2025

Sofia Digital, a provider of interactive TV solutions, has announces its collaboration with Intelsat in launching the VideoNow Live TV and Electronic Program Guide (EPG) Android TV application for Intelsat’s Galaxy 19 neighborhood. The project integrates a modern EPG solution with advanced audience measurement capabilities, enabling ad monetization for free-to-air (FTA) satellite television.

The service will offer broadcasters and advertisers detailed insights into viewer behaviors, allowing for more targeted advertising strategies. With Sofia Digital’s expertise in interactive TV technologies, the upgraded EPG will provide a more engaging and personalized viewing experience for audiences across various regions.

“Our collaboration with Intelsat marks a significant step forward in the evolution of North America’s FTA satellite TV,” said Juho Mäyränpää, Sales Director at Sofia Digital. “By combining our interactive TV solutions with Intelsat’s extensive satellite network, we’re enabling broadcasters to better understand their audiences and monetize content more effectively.”

Lasse Soininen, Project Manager at Sofia Digital, commented: “Creating the new Android TV app has been a pleasure. Our teams were aligned from day one, and this synergy allowed us to deliver a solid end-to-end solution quickly and effectively. We’re excited about the possibilities this brings to FTA content providers and equally happy to offer a better experience for the viewers at home.”

Pascale Fromont, Vice-President and General Manager for Media at Intelsat, added: “This project is groundbreaking for North America’s free-to-air satellite TV market. With Android TV technology and Sofia Digital’s expertise, we’re now able to gain valuable insights into viewership trends that were previously unattainable. The cooperation with Sofia Digital was seamless, and we’re thrilled with the outcome. We really look forward to a brighter future for our Galaxy 19 video neighborhood.”

This initiative highlights Sofia Digital’s commitment to innovation in broadcast industry, metadata aggregation and SmartTV app development, providing tools and solutions that enhance viewer engagement and open new revenue streams for content providers.
