SES Space & Defense celebrates ribbon-cutting for new network ops center in Tampa

March 26, 2025

SES Space & Defense earlier this month celebrated the grand opening of the company’s newly renovated, 25,000-square-foot flagship facility in Tampa, Florida—the ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by Congresswoman Kathy Castor, Mayor Jane Castor, and U.S. Department of Defense officials, marking a major milestone in advancing national security space operations and strengthening Florida’s space industry footprint.

The state-of-the-art facility features two, 24x7x365 Network Operation Centers (NOCs), which operate satellites and provide network services to customers worldwide, delivering global commercial SATCOM bandwidth, satellite operations support, and a secure accredited terrestrial network. Additionally, it houses a Network Engineering Lab designed to configure, test, and ship equipment across the globe. This expansion underscores SES Space & Defense’s commitment to supporting national security interests through innovation and collaboration, with a network designed for the mission and backed by those who have lived it to support the U.S. military’s most critical operations.

Partnerships with companies like SES Space and Defense, that provide quality, advanced technology and infrastructure support to SOCOM and our military broadly, are pivotal to meeting our national security needs. Special Operations Command is the ‘tip of the spear’ of our national security, and I know this new facility will play an important role in strengthening SOCOM’s tactical edge in the land, air, sea, and space. I commend the SES Space and Defense team for their commitment to investing in and growing the national security space architecture right here in Tampa”, said Representative Castor.

In a world where the threat landscape is constantly evolving, the role of space in national defense has never been more critical,” said David Fields, President and CEO of SES Space and Defense. “Our facility will serve as a global hub for cutting-edge technology and strategic partnerships, ensuring that we are ready to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow.”
