A lawsuit brought by Viasat against the US Space Development Agency (SDA) has opened the possibility of Viasat winning a 10 satellite contract for the US Air Force. The Air Force has agreed to revoke a contract awarded to Tyvak Nano-Satellite Systems that’s worth $254 million (€243.3m). Tyvak is a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin.
The litigation result, reported by Aviation Week, does not specify what happens next in terms of a timetable. However, it is extremely likely that Viasat will this time be allowed to submit its bid for the contract.
Court documents said that an SDA employee was responsible for alleged comments delivered in advance of the actual contract’s award.
The new bids, when the procedure is determined, will be managed by officials who were not involved in overseeing the original contract awards.
