Rocket Lab launches “Ice AIS Baby” the second launch in less than 24 hours from 2 hemispheres

November 24, 2024

The “Ice AIS Baby” mission launched successfully on November 25th NZDT, 2024. Lift-off took place from Rocket Lab’s private orbital launch site, Launch Complex 1, in New Zealand.

The mission was the third of five dedicated Electron launches booked by Kinéis, a French Internet-of-Things (IoT) connectivity provider, in a multi-launch contract that will see Rocket Lab deploy an entire constellation of 25 IoT satellites. The first two missions were successfully launched by Electron in June and September 2024.

The mission was less than 24 hours after our successful launch from Launch Complex 2 in Virginia overnight.  This is the first time Rocket Lab has launched two missions within 24 hours. It will also be a world first; 2 launches within 24 hrs from 2 different hemispheres.

The mission will be Rocket Lab’s 14th launch this year and 56th launch overall.
