NSSLGlobal wins SATCOM contract for Germany’s Federal Office for Civil Protection (BBK)

NSSLGlobal is providing SATCOM services and technology to Germany’s Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (Bundesamt für Bevӧlkerungsshutz und Katastrophenhilfe, or BBK), thanks to a recent contract.

NSSLGlobal will provide the 24/7 connectivity, hardware and technical support that BBK teams need when operating in extreme conditions to protect Germany. Portable SATCOM is the key to secure, rapid communications and the command and control of dispersed, small units, avoiding the delays and interruptions to terrestrial infrastructure that often accompany emergencies.

Providing voice and data communications, NSSLGlobal will enable operators to pass vital information to decision-makers and those at the operational face at critical times.In addition, the BBK will use NSSLGlobal’s INSIGHT business management portal, to provide users real time information on all interactions, for comprehensive monitoring, control and alerting along with provision of data records.

Dr. Swen Zehetmair, Head of Unit, Unit A.II.2 – Ensuring the Operational Capability of Equipment -Technology, BBK, said, “NSSLGlobal is providing us with the a robust, always-on solution we need for our teams in the field to remain fully connected in highly challenging and complex emergencies when conventional terrestrial infrastructure may be overloaded or out of action.
