Satcom Direct Government signs USG + DoD aeronautical BPA

March 19, 2024

Satcom Direct Government, SDG, has been re-awarded a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) for the provision of aeronautical satellite connectivity services to the U.S. Government (USG) for the U.S. Military, Department of Defense (DoD), state and local agencies.

This five-year agreement is the third renewal of the BPA contract, allowing SDG to provide secure voice and broadband data services to support global aeronautical missions for the DoD and other federal agency bodies. The agreement has a maximum value of approximately $240 million over the life of the contract, which comprises one base year and four option years.

USG users will continue to benefit from easy ordering through the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) platform to quickly establish worldwide connectivity through the Viasat-owned Inmarsat airtime services, including GX2 powered by the expanding Global Xpress network.

The agreement also includes the full range of Viasat L-band solutions, SwiftBroadband, Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN), FleetBroadband, SwiftJet, Classic Aero services, and SD Flight Deck Freedom® datalink services for the cockpit.

The aeronautical services for this contract will be supported by the Satcom Direct comprehensive terrestrial network and the Melbourne, Florida-based, SD Data Center, ensuring secure transmission of all U.S. DoD data transfers from aircraft to U.S. Government specified locations, even in the most geographically challenging locations.

The SD Pro® integrated software flight operations platform is also available through the BPA and will be used to monitor and manage connectivity services and usage in real time. SD Pro delivers planning, flight tracking, and connectivity monitoring via a single, simple, fast, and secure access point.

“SD Government has a proven track record of serving the U.S. government with a powerful suite of connectivity solutions through a streamlined process that improves efficiency and enhances budgets. For U.S. Military, diplomatic, intelligence and civilian government aviation users of the service, we also deliver 24/7/365 customer support to optimize systems, equipment usage and core Inmarsat services,” said SD Head of Government Hayden Olson. “Our expertise and proven capability in managing and exceeding the expectations of our government customers, even in the most difficult of circumstances, supported the confirmation of the BPA agreement. We look forward to continuing to support DISA and our U.S. government airborne users to meet their specific mission requirements.”
