As part of the agency’s efforts to support research and development, the Canadian Space Agency has awarded $16 million in funding to 27 Canadian companies, including 25 Small and Midsize Enterprises (SMEs).
These funds were awarded through the Space Technology Development Program (STDP), which supports innovation for the growth of the Canadian space sector. The funded projects are grouped into four categories:
- Advanced technologies
- Small businesses
- Next-wave technologies
- Quantum technologies
Among the funded projects, Edgehog Advanced Technologies Inc. aims to improve the efficiency of solar panels on spacecraft, a project that could help with supplying our communities with clean electricity; and Obruta Space Solutions Corp. will provide spacecraft with “eyes” so that they can change direction and dock autonomously.
