MEASAT connects Malaysian Armed Forces personnel via high-speed satellite b’band

May 19, 2023

MEASAT Global Berhad (“MEASAT”) will be providing CONNECTme NOW satellite broadband services at no cost under the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program to frontline Malaysian Armed Forces personnel who are serving at selected remote, border checkpoint posts located across Malaysia.

CONNECTme NOW is Malaysia’s leading, prepaid, satellite broadband Wi-Fi Hotspot service by MEASAT. The service provides community-focused satellite broadband to national broadband aspirations.CONNECTme NOW provides 400,000 broadband connections within unconnected communities residing outside of 4G or terrestrial coverage areas nationwide.

MEASAT’s ability to deliver high-speed satellite broadband nationwide makes it a strategic partner to support the Government of Malaysia’s aspirations to achieve 100% internet coverage in populated areas by 2025.

“As a proud Malaysian company committed to providing broadband coverage even in the most remote areas of the country, MEASAT recognises the dedication of our military personnel and is pleased to support the Malaysian Armed Forces teams in keeping our borders safe. Being away from loved ones for extended periods can sometimes feel challenging, so we would like to make it more convenient for our dedicated soldiers to stay connected with their families through our high-speed CONNECTme NOW platform.”
— Yau Chyong Lim, Chief Operating Officer, MEASAT.

“We welcome this contribution from MEASAT which is essential to the well-being of our military personnel throughout their posting in the remote border posts. The Malaysian Armed Forces also welcomed the efforts of the private sector of Malaysia contributing their specialised capabilities, especially in realising initiatives that honor the services and sacrifices of members of the security forces who are protecting the nation. I look forward to other potential collaborations in the future.”
— General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Hj Affendi Bin Buang RMAF, Malaysian Chief of Defence Forces.
