Globecast’s Sainte Assise teleport receives WTA Tier 4 certification

February 1, 2023

The World Teleport Association (WTA) has announced that Globecast has achieved Tier 4 certification of that company’s Sainte Assise Teleport outside Paris, France, under WTA’s Teleport Certification Program.

The Sainte Assise certification marks the 51st issued since the program was launched at IBC in 2015, and another 9 teleports are currently engaged in the quality, evaluation process. The program provides transparent, independently verified standards as a means for teleports to differentiate themselves and for customers to choose the price-performance level suitable for their applications.

Certification is issued on a Provisional (self-reported) basis after completion of a +170-item questionnaire that is evaluated against standards developed by WTA’s Certification Committee. The teleport then has six months to achieve Full Certification. To achieve Full Certification under WTA’s program, an auditor is dispatched to visit the teleport, provide independent validation of the data submitted in the questionnaire, and identify additional factors that may positively or negatively affect the score. Full Certification is issued at a Tier number from 1 through 4, of which 4 represents the highest degree of excellence, and remains in effect for 3 years.

Certifications have been issued to teleports operated by IABG Teleport, A1 Telekom Austria Group, Gomedia Satcom, Azercosmos, Servicio Satelital, USEI, AXESS Networks, STN, Eutelsat, du, COMSAT, e&, Optus, Horizon Teleports, RADIOCOM, Talia, Telespazio, Vivacom, Cyta, PlanetCast, Singtel, Hellas Sat, Hawaii Pacific Teleport, Intelsat, SMS, Telstra, Primacom, Santander Teleport and Arqiva.

Philippe Bernard, CEO and Chairman, Globecast, said, “We are honored to receive this certification based on excellence for our Sainte-Assise teleport, a facility with a remarkable history of providing vital communication services to the world. Through our commitment to future proofing our ecosystem, and to best serve the market via our Strategic Growth Initiatives announced last year, this facility forms a central part of our global network. As well as being about satellite communications and what that future brings, it’s also about how it supports our cloud workflows and partnerships so we can define and supply premium quality services for each and every customer.”

“With its long-term focus on serving media companies, Globecast has maintained its global leadership through the massive transformation of its market,” said WTA executive director, Robert Bell,” We welcome the company to the family of operators around the world who have achieved Full Certification of their facilities, technology and operating procedures. Independent, standards-based evaluation and validation sets teleport operators apart and assures customers that they will receive the price-performance outcome they expect.”
