GomSpace Group AB (“GomSpace” or the “Company”) has announced that the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Jens Maaløe, will resign from the Board with immediate effect due to health issues. GomSpace also announced that CEO Niels Buus will step down after nine years in that position.
Vice chair of the Board of Directors, Jukka Pertola, will take over as Chairman of the Board and steer GomSpace through the management transition as well as the rights issue planned for Q1 2023. He has informed that, if re-elected at the next annual general meeting to be held on April 21, 2023, it is likely that he will have to resign in August of 2023, at the latest, to reduce his number of directorships to comply with governance standards and investor requirements.
In addition to his current role, CFO Troels Dalsgaard will take over as interim CEO today until a new CEO has been appointed. A recruitment process has been initiated and the Board of Directors expect to be able to announce a new CEO during the first quarter of 2023. Niels Buus will remain as an advisor to GomSpace for a period of six months to secure a smooth transition.
Chairman of the Board of Directors, Jukka Pertola, said, “We fully respect and understand Jens’ decision and wish him all the best. Jens has contributed greatly to the achievements of GomSpace for which we own him thanks. I also want to thank Niels for his dedicated contributions to GomSpace over many years. Niels has been CEO since 2014 and has been instrumental in building GomSpace to its current position. The management change will allow the new CEO together with rest of the management team to execute on the new strategy and product investment program in the wake of the planned rights issue in Q1 2023.”
Niels Buus said, “After 15 very eventful years in GomSpace, nine years as CEO, it is time to pass on the torch to a new CEO to execute the 2030 strategy and lead Gomspace into the next phase. I am immensely proud to have been part of the journey in GomSpace and I would like to thank the board, the management team, all the employees, and not least the founders, for their support throughout the years.”
