SpaceX Shoots SARah 1 Swiftly Spaceward

June 20, 2022

SpaceX continues to attract industry, media and the public’s attention as the second of three scheduled launches successfully occurred on June 18 at 7:19 a.m., PT, 14:19 UTC, for a Falcon 9 launch of the approximately 2,200 kg. SARah-1 satellite from a foggy Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB) in California.

The SARah 1 satellite was built by Airbus for the German Bundeswehr. The Falcon 9 first stage booster supporting this mission previously launched the NROL-87 and NROL-85 missions.

Following stage separation, Falcon 9’s first stage returned to land on Landing Zone 4 (LZ-4) at VSFB in California. This was the third landing for this booster.

The Falcon 9 booster successfully lands back at VSFB.

Then, in less than 48 hours, SpaceX is going to tackle another launch — a classified launch — of the Globalstar-2 FM 15 and additional rideshare payloads from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral SFS, via a Falcon 9 Block 5 launch vehicle.
