KRYTAR’s New Directional Coupler’s 30 dB Coupling Covers 26.5 to 40.0 GHz

February 2, 2022

KRYTAR, Inc., provider of the design and production of ultra-broadband microwave components and test equipment announces the continued expansion of its line of directional couplers with the addition of a new model offering 30 dB of Nominal Coupling over the frequency range of 26.5 to 40.0 GHz (Ka-Band), in a compact and lightweight package.

KRYTAR’s new directional coupler, Model 264030, enhances the selection of multi-purpose, stripline designs that exhibit excellent coupling in a single, compact and lightweight package. The new directional coupler lends itself to wireless designs and many test and measurement applications within K-Band. Ka-Band is typically used for commercial and military satellite communications (SATCOM). The directional coupler is uniquely designed for systems applications where external leveling, precise monitoring, signal mixing or swept transmission and reflection measurements are required. The coupler will find additional usage in antenna beam forming and EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) testing environments. For many space-restricted applications the compact size makes KRYTAR directional couplers ideal.

KRYTAR’s new directional coupler, Model 264030, offers superior performance ratings including Nominal Coupling (with respect to output) of 30 dB, ±1.0 dB, and Frequency Sensitivity of ±0.5 dB. The directional coupler exhibits Insertion Loss (including coupled power) of 1.3 dB, Directivity of greater than 12 dB, Maximum VSWR (any port) is 1.7, Input Power Rating is 20 W average and 3 kW peak.

The new directional coupler comes with industry-standard 2.4 mm SMA Female Connectors. The compact package measures just 1.12 inches (L) x 0.40 inches (W) x 0.62 inches (H), and weighs only 1.0 ounces. Operating temperature is -54° to 85° C. The directional coupler can also be manufactured to meet ridged military specifications.
