New Ultra-B’Band Directional Coupler Intro’d By KRYTAR

November 1, 2021

KRYTAR, Inc. is continuing their expansion of the company’s line of directional couplers with the addition of a new model that offers 30 dB of Coupling over the ultra-broadband frequency range of 2 to 50 GHz (S- through Q-Bands), in a single, compact and lightweight package.

KRYTAR’s new directional coupler, Model 102050006, enhances the selection of multi-purpose, stripline designs that exhibit excellent coupling in a single, compact and lightweight package. The directional coupler is designed for systems applications where external leveling, precise monitoring, signal mixing or swept transmission and reflection measurements are required.

The new directional coupler lends itself to wireless designs and many test and measurement applications within S- through Q-Bands including SATCOM, electronic warfare (EW), commercial wireless, 5G communications, radar, signal monitoring and measurement, antenna beam forming, electric vehicle (EV) systems, and EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) testing environments. For many space-restricted applications, the compact size makes KRYTAR directional couplers ideal.

This new directional coupler offers superior performance ratings that include Nominal Coupling (with respect to output) of 6 dB, ±2.0 dB, and Frequency Sensitivity of ±2.0 dB. The directional coupler exhibits Insertion Loss (including coupled power) of 2.8 dB, Directivity of greater than 10 dB, Maximum VSWR (any port) is 1.8, Input Power Rating is 20 W average and 3 kW peak.

The new directional coupler comes with industry-standard 2.4mm SMA Female Connectors. The compact package measures just 1.75 inches (L) x 0.40 inches (W) x 0.65 inches (H), and weighs only 1.2 ounces. Operating temperature is -54° to 85° C. The directional coupler can also be manufactured to meet ridged military specifications.
