The Chinese Xinhua news agency is reporting that China has successfully launched a new satellite to test and verify space debris mitigation technologies.
Named the Shijian-21, the satellite was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in southwest China’s Sichuan Province aboard a Long March-3B rocket The designated orbit was successfully attained.
The main purpose of the satellite, according to the news agency, will be to test and verify space debris mitigation technologies.
