Qvest Media Integrates WELT’s New Satellite Infrastructure With DEV Systemtechnik RF Systems

September 28, 2021

Using DEV Systemtechnik’s advanced optical and coaxial RF systems, Qvest Media has planned and integrated WELT’s satellite infrastructure in the new WELT HQ in Berlin.

Qvest Media had been contracted to plan and install the new satellite infrastructure for WELT’s new broadcast and play-out center in Berlin. WELT (former N24) is Germany’s leading private news broadcaster providing services over satellite, cable, DVB-T2 and IPTV. A key challenge was the integration of three existing motorized antennas from the existing distant site with the network in the new HQ consisting of seven new antennas in another location. All antennas together deliver 42 RF L-Band signals that are consolidated and controlled in the new broadcast center office in the heart of Berlin.

Qvest Media has selected a matching combination of DEVs modular advanced Optribution RF over fiber systems for transmission and an Archimedes Matrix for switching and combing of the signals, as well as matching redundancy options in combination with constant signal monitoring to assure services 24/7. The new infrastructure of WELT in Berlin has been live since April 24, 2021.

“We are very pleased that we can offer our long-standing partner Qvest Media a field proven, matching solution and can contribute to this key project ,“ said Manfred Mettendorff, Managing Director of DEV Systemtechnik. “Qvest Media has an excellent track record in the industry and a good understanding of DEV’s solutions. So Network operators can always rest assured that also complex requirements will be resolved and projects being executed swiftly.”

“Our teams at Qvest Media have already realized customer projects worldwide with solutions delivered by DEV Systemtechnik. One major benefit is, that their modular and field-upgradable solutions can be adapted to many different customer demands. The adaptability and flexibility were also invaluable in our project for WELT,” said Volker Schauff, Solutions Architect at Qvest Media. “With DEV as a supplier, we can always rely on prompt technical support with in-depth radio frequency and signal transmission expertise.”
