GomSpace’s Contract Enhances Colombian Air Force and CODALTEC’s Satellite Capabilities

January 3, 2021

A second FACSAT-2 contract has been signed by GomSpace to support advanced science and technology activities that will enhance the satellite capabilities of the Colombian Airforce. The contract and collaboration consist of a three-party agreement between CODALTEC / Colombian Air Force (“FAC”) and GomSpace to continue the FACSAT-2 satellite mission and associated intensive virtual technology transfer program. The contract is worth 3.91 MSEK (472.800USD) and will be delivered during the second half of 2021.

“We are happy to continue our activities with FAC and Colombia as we ramp up the FACSAT-2 project”, says Niels Buus, CEO of GomSpace.

The FACSAT-2 project comprises design, manufacture, test, and operation of an advanced 6U remote sensing spacecraft. The program will build on the successful collaboration established and local capability built during the FACSAT-1 program under which a Colombian 3U satellite was launched in 2018 and is today in continued operation by FAC.

The science and technology contract covers, to a certain extent, the critical design phase. The specific objectives of this contract are focused on joining efforts for the development of the technology and knowledge transfer program and co-development of the required documentation in the critical design phase of the mission.

The present contract shall be seen as an add on to the contract announced in October 2020.
