Ovzon has secured a renewed contract valued at a total of $14.6 million with the US Department of Defense (US DoD), through the US service provider Intelsat General Corporation, IGC. The contract includes satellite capacity on a steerable beam and follows on an order for Ovzon’s brand new T6 terminals for the same end customer.
The contract covers 12 months, from mid December 2020 to mid December 2021, for the use of Ovzon’s high data rate, satellite communication services. Ovzon’s current service offering, through leased capacity, will be significantly expanded with Ovzon’s new satellite Ovzon 3 that will be launched in the end of 2021.
Ovzon 3 will provide dramatically enhanced performance and functionality and is an important step to further revolutionize mobile broadband by GEO satellites, offering the highest bandwidth with the smallest terminals. Ovzon 3 is the first of a number of satellites planned for Ovzon’s high-end global service.
”We are excited to see this continued service for US DoD and we are happy for their trust in our high performance “end to end” capability. With this contract we are paving the way for our coming Ovzon 3 satellite. Ovzon 3 is equipped with a number of steerable beams that will further enhance our service and offering”, says Magnus René, the CEO of Ovzon.
