AAC Clyde Space Has the Power, and Loft Orbital’s YAMs Need It

AAC Clyde Space has been reenlisted to deliver power systems for two satellites for Loft Orbital. This is in addition to other projects that AAC Clyde Space has done for the company.

AAC Clyde Space‘s contract is for an additional 2.5 MSEK (Swedish Kronor) (USD $250,000) order from Loft Orbital for power systems for two satellite that will be delivered during 2020, starting with an engineering model in the current quarter to be followed by flight models for two satellites in the latter half of 2020.

AAC Clyde Space will deliver its STARBUCK PCDU (Power Conditioning and Distribution Unit), which is based on an existing design with a flight heritage, that enables very short delivery times. The systems will be used on Loft Orbital’s satellites, YAM-3 and YAM-5, to manage power distribution to multiple payloads hosted on the satellite platform. This order for power systems follows a previous order for Sirius on-board data handling systems, that enable the accommodation of different types of payloads on the standardized micro satellites.

AAC Clyde Space CEO Luis Gomesstated that they are proud to be part of Loft Orbital’s pioneering venture to offer rapid access to space for payloads. This new order extends their offering to Loft Orbital and shows their abilitThe company is planning to launch missions quarterly.
