SDA posts solicitation for Sabre payloads

March 29, 2023

The Space Development Agency (SDA) seeks industry solutions for a payload system that will add multiple new mission capability demonstrations to the NExT constellation. The payload system will deliver three (3) independent functional capabilities, collectively referred to as the Sabre payload.

While SDA anticipates these three functions to integrate in a single, multi-function unit, it is acceptable to deliver these capabilities as multiple single-function units. These three functions are not required to operate simultaneously.

Details of the Sabre payload functions are as follows:

  • Collecting and relaying telemetry from Vehicles Under Test (VUTs) on U.S. missile test ranges
  • Alternative pointing, navigation, and timing (S-NAV/ALTNAV)
  • Tactical Electronic Support (ES)

This solicitation is for the design, development, fabrication, integration, test, and delivery of three (3) Sabre flight payloads including support for integrating these payloads with NExT SVs and operating and sustaining them for future mission demonstrations.

The Sabre solicitation is available at this direct SAM.GOV link. To receive Attachment 1 (Statement of Work and Technical Requirements Document), Attachment 2 (Schedule or Milestones and Payments), and the Sabre Bidder’s Library, please send an email to osd.pentagon.ousd-r-e.mbx.sda-ps-23-02@mail.mil with the subject line “SDA Sabre Solicitation Attachment Requests.”

Include your organization’s CAGE code and address in your request. Requests received from organizations that do not possess a facility clearance of at least Secret will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. SDA will endeavor to respond to all requests in the order that they are received.

Any Offerors that previously requested documents for the draft solicitation will receive the final solicitation documents and do not need to request them.
