Thuraya celebrates 15 years of SATCOM leadership in APAC + opens a new office in Singapore

June 1, 2022

Thuraya, the mobility solutions subsidiary of the UAE’s flagship satellite operator, Al Yah Satellite Communications Company PJSC (“Yahsat” or, together with its subsidiaries, “the Group”) listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (“ADX”) under (SYMBOL: YAHSAT) (ISIN: AEA007501017), has opened a new office in Singapore to mark the 15th anniversary of the brand’s entry into the Asia-Pacific (APAC) market.

Ever since the company’s acquisition by Yahsat in 2018, Thuraya has been steadily growing its presence in the region. The unveiling of the new office, which took place together with partners and customers, serves as a testament to the growth and success of the business over the past few years.

Thuraya’s new office was inaugurated by H.E. Jamal Abdulla Al Suwaidi, the UAE’s Ambassador to Singapore, in the presence of Mr. Herman Loh, Vice-President and Head of Regional Partnerships at Singapore Economic Development Board and key APAC partners.

Thuraya Singapore’s new address is 991 Alexandra Road, #01-01 Singapore 119964.

Welcoming dignitaries and partners, Thuraya’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Sulaiman Al Ali, spoke at the opening and said, “The UAE serves as a corridor between the West and the East. Both Yahsat and Thuraya are national champions driving the growth and diversification of our nation’s space economy. We are now globalizing our successes and the many years of innovation in the satellite industry. Thuraya’s new office in Singapore will be a meeting point of ideas and cross-cultural exchange, spurring socio-economic development across the Asia-Pacific belt. This is a key market across all our business sectors, including Maritime, Government, Energy, NGO and Enterprise.”
