The German Government and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) have awarded Isar Aerospace with an 11 million euros contract through their C-STS program that is managed by the European Space Agency (ESA).
The program is designed to strengthen commercial space transportation services in Europe. Isar Aerospace will use this funding for the further development of their first Spectrum launch vehicle. In return, the German government obtains a payload of up to 150 kilograms on two Spectrum flights into Earth orbit.
The competition for this award was initiated and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and designed by the German Aerospace Center (DLR).
