The World Teleport Association (WTA) has launched the organization’s new Quality Assessment Program (QAP) that offers teleport operators a private, confidential quality assessment of their facility, technology and operating procedures.
The program identifies strengths and weaknesses compared to international standards developed by WTA. It equips owners and managers to make smart decisions about investing time or money in eliminating points of failure that can lead to service degradation, outages, rebate demands and customer losses.
Ratings are provided in complete confidence and take into account the economic environment and market conditions the teleport experiences, including the availability of such essentials as diverse and reliable power and connectivity, good transportation and security. Teleports that complete the process are entitled to display a “WTA QAP” logo to signal their commitment to quality improvement.
QAP is derived from WTA’s successful Teleport Certification program, which examines 170 aspects of facilities, technology and procedures through an online questionnaire and in-person audit. Companies that have proven the value of Certification include A1 Telekom, AXESS Networks, Comsat, CYTA, Eutelsat, Intelsat, PlanetCast, Media Broadcast, Satellite Mediaport Services, Santander Teleport, Singtel, Speedcast, STN, Talia, Telespazio, Telstra, US Electrodynamics and VIVACOM Plana Teleport.
“Our Teleport Certification program has provided independent public validation of quality for more than 40 teleports around the world, with many more coming in 2021,” said Executive Director Robert Bell. “The Quality Assessment Program offers something very different: confidential guidance on where investment in facilities and technology, or improvements in operating procedures, will have the biggest positive impact on a teleport’s quality of service and ability to retain customers. Our goal is to help every teleport operator improve their performance at a cost in effort and money that they can justify.”
