Inmarsat SVP Named To Space Enterprise Consortium’s Executive Committee

October 6, 2020

Rebecca Cowen-Hirsch, Senior Vice President for Government Strategy and Policy at Inmarsat, has been named to the Space Enterprise Consortium’s Executive Committee— she will serve a two-year term on the Executive Committee, starting on October 1, 2020.

The Space Enterprise Consortium is a collection of industry leaders, academic research institutions and innovative early-stage and non-traditional companies working together to build partnerships between the commercial industry, the civil space sector and the U.S. government. The organization strives to increase flexibility and agility, reduce costs, improve technology and capability insertion, and decrease cycles in the development and deployment of next-generation space technologies.

With more than 30 years of industry experience, Cowen-Hirsch oversees Inmarsat’s strategic direction, policy and advocacy with respect to the U.S. government. Previously, she was a member of the Senior Executive Service in the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) as the Program Executive Officer for SATCOM, Teleport and Services at DISA and several other key executive positions. Ms Cowen-Hirsch has been with Inmarsat for twelve years.

“Inmarsat is proud to be a member of the Space Enterprise Consortium and to work with like-minded innovative companies to streamline acquisition processes and strengthen the diversity and resiliency of U.S. space assets,” said Ms. Cowen-Hirsch. “I am excited and humbled by my selection to the Executive Committee, and look forward to representing SpEC’s membership in the critical, ongoing dialog regarding acquisition of commercial capabilities, as well as building and solidifying relationships with U.S. Space Force leadership and the DoD Undersecretary for Research and Engineering.“
